Couch Surf Rotorua

Tuesday, May 4th. Today I arrived into Rotorua and I was invited by a local Maori to couch surf with him. I think I'll stay for a few days.

Sulphur smelled thoughout the city especially in the geothermal hot spots. Rotorua is known for it's geothermal activity and it's high Maori population.

I went to Kuirau Park in the afternoon where there were lots of geothermal hot spots and a few areas where you can soak your feet in the hot pools. I did just that and it felt good.

Later in the evening, I met with Jacko, my host in Rotorua. Jacko is a lawyer and an active member in the Maori community.

He drove me home, showed me my room then fed me roast pork. My stomach was happy, so I was happy. Then we chatted for hours, past Jacko's bedtime.
